Partnership in Prayer 1

"And I tell you more: whenever two of you on earth agree about anything you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, I am there with them."
Matt 18:19,20 (GNB)

And he took with him Peter, James and John...

And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
Mark 14:33, 34 (KJV)

Jesus left us a pattern of partnership in prayer. On the mount of transfiguration he took with him Peter, James and John...to pray. At Gethsemane, he took with him Peter, James and John- close friends and disciples- with the intention that they watch and pray along with him for at least one hour. You can not go it alone all the time, all the way. Even Jesus partnered in prayer.

Power in partnered prayer.

Prayer partners. Prayer teams. Prayer chains. Prayer hours. Prayer meetings. All these are different dimensions of partnership in prayer; and there is power in partnered prayer. There is tremendous power in sharing a burden with another. Not just talking about it, gossiping about it, crying about it or thinking about it; but praying in deep agreement about it. One of the greatest blessings in prayer is being able to hold another’s hand and ‘agree as touching’ certain things- needs, hurts, people and situations. The atmosphere changes when God’s children gather to pray. In charismatic circles, it has been christened the ‘corporate anointing’.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Matt 18:20
